Cheated out of my raise and being criticized for bringing it up

My new supervisor who sits in his office all day so not sure how he'd know what I do around here kinda snubbed me of points on my performance review and cost me my maximum raise.
  • 04
To add insult to injury he gave the other person with my title the full raise amount (and I assure you he doesn't do more than me).
  • 05
I went over his head and talked to his boss. I brought a copy of my review and went over with the boss certain sections I felt I deserved a higher score and cited

specific examples of work I've done that goes above and beyond. While he didn't agree with all of them there were some he did and was able to resubmit my review and get HR to approve me my full raise amount.

But then I was also told not to compare myself to others next time. Oh and also to not tell the others cause he doesn't want everyone trying to change the score I just think that's really unethical

if he fires me, he loses a good employee and would be faced with a wrongful termination lawsuit. Nothing happened, but I will now get timely bonuses for working on extra projects, instead of having to wait for year end. Good, great, grand.

case as to why you should get a raise you shouldn't compare yourself to someone else. Neither are illegal.

KingBembi 1 day ago Why not compare yourself to others? This sounds like a dumb way to let companies exploit you.

Dextexer OP. 2 days ago It wasn't even that much a difference but it's also the principle of paying someone less to do the same as someone else

Dextexer OP. 2 days ago Thanks and the "don't tell the everyone or they might ask if they came change their score" I didn't like. I hope if someone else deserves a raise they could at least

discuss their concerns-like I knew there was a chance nothing would change on mine but I needed to try cause it wasn't sitting right with me that I'm a hard worker and being overlooked

MrSlime13 2 days ago Comparing yourself to others is exactly what managementdoes when they go through the review process... You think they'd actually give everyone raises if everyone improved significantly? They compare

who's more valuable, and who's work makes the most impact. Maybe they specifically meant comparing wages, but that's completely legal to do in the United States. Come raise time, if they can't be impartial, and honest about people's personal developments, they're not above scrutiny of their decisions.

Dextexer OP. 2 days ago I wanted to talk back but didn't want to dig myself into a hole, but yeah it literally is a comparative review. Otherwise you'd give everyone the same raise percent across the board

And it's not like I was just like "well I'm the same thing as him and he's getting more", I was really only like 2 points away and I'm not perfect pointed out a few specific categories on my review I didn't get full score on and
